Tastecapade 11 – The Soul Is No Liar

After a great day at the Wind & Sea beach Taste jammed out a “young” acoustic version of “Souls No Liar.” I say “young” because it was in the beginning phases still being tweaked (we eventually settled on a higher pitch.) Tastecapade 9 – Taste Live @ Pat’s Pub – San Diego

Over the summer Dave and Erik performed regularly as part of a house band that hosts a weekly open mic night at Pat’s Pub in San Diego. Since The Taste Crew was in town, the other guys in the house band were kind enough to lend us the stage to drop a lil Taste bomb on the crowd. Tastecapade 8 – Don’t Train for Sprints, Train for Marathons.

So what brought The Taste Crew to San Diego anyway?

Dave and Erik are both born and raised San Diegoians. Lev was raised in the Lone Star State while I (JameZ) am Boston born and bred. We all converged in San Diego with three main goals:

1. Taste up the plethora of So-Cal sights, sounds, aromas, and seemingly endless warmth.
2. Practice, prepare and then record a demo at the “diamond in the rough” studio – Flight 19.
3. Perform as much as possible in and around San Diego.

Only being in Cali for 10 days meant cramming in as much action as possible. When you exist to Taste Life and not waste life, cramming in action is a given. As Dave points out in this Tastecapade it’s like we’re on a Taste Marathon. It was at this exact moment that I was hit with a rhyme from back in the day by Evidence of Dilated Peoples:

You know these days ain’t gettin any longer

Now or never, time to hit the street
We on the, move
Ride out with shit to prove
Everywhere we go they like…

My first time in Southern Cali and out of nowhere I’m hit with a rhyme that speaks of it. Furthermore the vibe totally coincides with Taste and our mentality. We are on the move with things to prove and are making it a point to appreciate and embrace every blessing given to us along the way.

Tastecapade 7 – How’s Your Bagel?!?

Wasting no time the minute we arise, Dr. Funk and I (JameZ) get up looking to feast on an ultimate breakfast. Dave knows I have an ongoing infatuation with Bagels but it’s beyond the impeccable taste that a bagel and most bagel combos offer (ie. The endless bagel sandwich options and the various types of harmonious spreads that go with, most notable the beloved cream cheese in all it’s varieties.) It’s also the fact that I refer to my stomach region (Also known as a belly in some cases) as a bagel. By cupping your hands around the navel region you can make your stomach very much look like a bagel. For instance, here’s an example:

Chances are good you also have a belly button. If so, you’re always rockin a bagel!!!

Well Dave didn’t have to bend my arm (or punch me in the bagel) to convince me to try out one of San Diego’s finest bagel establishments – Golden Bagel Cafe. Before even entering the place I saw one of the biggest bagels I’ve ever seen!!!

Tastecapade 6 – Late-night Combo Delight!!!

Late-night hunger at Davey’s crib had the Taste Crew raiding his moms’ fridge and cupboards for a bona fide Taste Experience. I was admiring the Combos packaging when Lev put us in motion for an unplanned spontaneous Tastecapade.

Tastecapade 5 – Lev Arrives! First Stop We Rockin Balboa!!!

Lev arrived in true Southern fashion rockin jeans and a straw hat atop some serious flow. His first request was to visit a beautiful oasis. Enter Balboa Park one of San Diego’s finest. Surrounded by beauty all around, Erik, Lev and JameZ tasted up the good earth appreciating the various tropical sights and sounds.

Tastecapade 4 – Jaming out a beach inspired creation!

Erik and Pat went into a beach inspired creation as Dave was getting JameZ a Moosehead. Upon his return Dave is instantly struck with the vibe, delivers the brew and makes way to his thrown to drop beats just in time.

JameZ really likes this groove and thinks it should be made into a full-length song…what do YOU think?

Tastecapade 3 – Dave arrives in time for “Change” a Lanzetta Classic!!!

Pat had just began playing one of his most catchy tunes, a track called “Change.”

Erik and Dave contributed to these recordings; Erik daddying up the Guitar and Dave the Drums.
